Tarangire National Park
Tarangire National Park, established in 1970, is a breathtaking safari destination known for its vast savannahs, iconic baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. Named after the Tarangire River, the park offers a timeless landscape and is home to one of Africa’s largest elephant populations, earning it the title “elephant paradise.”
Location & Access:
Tarangire is situated in the Manyara region, about two hours from Arusha by road. By air, it is a 20-minute flight from Arusha or 45 minutes from Kilimanjaro. The park covers an area of 2,850 square kilometers.

The park is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, wildebeest, zebras, Cape buffalo, impalas, dik-diks, and more. Visitors can also spot primates such as vervet monkeys and olive baboons.

The best time to visit Tarangire is during the dry season from June to October when large numbers of animals congregate around the Tarangire River and Silale Swamp in search of water.
